Strengthening Early Childhood Development in Kaski, Pokhara

Early Child Care, nutrition and good health are the foundation of human capital. An investment in early education, nutrition and health is an investment in a country’s future workforce, economic stability, and social resilience. Lack of proper care, nourishment and lack of child development opportunities may reduce their future growth, learning ability and future opportunities.

Therefore, since 2002, GONESA Nepal has been working to address these challenges in resource poor Landless informal communities through a comprehensive and integrated approach.   Drawing on more than two decades of experience, GONESA has continuously adapted and strengthened ECD Program to meet the evolving needs of children and communities. Involvement of community and stakeholders is major success of this project.   It covers child care, nutrition, education and health facility and community engagement. More than 300 children 3-5 years get services each year through ECD Intervention in Pokhara City. Parents involved in informal jobs during the day time and children stay at Centre where they get education and transform their lives. This initiative has been proved highly effective and impactful in terms of child development and leave no one behind.
