Climate Resilient Community

Climate change has emerged as a  major  cross cutting challenge in developing countries like Nepal, affecting agriculture , livelihood, disaster management, health and environment sustainability, In Nepal, where almost 66% of people depend on agriculture for their livelihoods. Its Impacts are increasingly visible in both farming systems and residential areas as flooding, erosion and forest fire which require timely coordinated action.

To address this challenges we are working through the following key initiatives:

  • Involvement of authorities at local and municipal levels and establishment of an expert network in the areas of climate change, disaster management and agriculture.
  • Training junior advisors to inform village communities about climate-friendly agriculture and disaster relief, and especially to work with women’s groups.
  • Training of community representatives and women’s groups within village communities to understand local disasters and their causal factors, early warning and evacuation, and the various phases of disaster management.
  • Regularly recurring campaigns on climate-friendly agriculture and training courses for farmers on regenerative agricultural methods.
  • Nature Based methods for protection against flood and erosions
